Experiencing a location error or an "Out of Market" message indicates that our service is unable to confirm you are physically located within the designated 9-state Altitude broadcast territory. This is a common issue and can often be resolved by adjusting a few settings.
Here's how to troubleshoot and resolve these errors:
Disable VPNs and Proxies: Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) and proxy services are designed to mask your true location by routing your internet traffic through servers in different regions. While useful for privacy or accessing geo-restricted content, they will prevent our service from accurately verifying your current location within our broadcast area. It is essential to disable any active VPN or proxy service to ensure the stream functions correctly.
Enable GPS and Location Services (Mobile Devices): For users accessing the service on mobile devices such as smartphones or tablets, it is crucial to ensure that your device's location services (GPS) are activated. Furthermore, you must grant the Altitude+ app permission to access and detect your location. Without these settings enabled, the app cannot confirm your eligibility to view content within the broadcast territory.
Specific Considerations for Starlink Users:
Due to the unique nature of Starlink's satellite internet service, which can sometimes present challenges with precise location verification, we recommend a specific approach. Starlink users should utilize a mobile device with active GPS, connected to their home Wi-Fi network. This method allows the mobile device's GPS to provide the most accurate location data, which can then be used to verify your service eligibility effectively, even when using a Starlink internet connection.
